1. The Course You Are Enrolling In
You are enrolling in RightSite Driving School's government-approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) program. The program totals 40 hours, delivered as: 20 hours of classroom instruction (provided digitally, self-paced from home), 10 hours of flexible instruction time completed through home-study activities, and a minimum of 10 hours of one-on-one in-vehicle training with a licensed instructor. In-vehicle training is limited to a maximum of 2 hours per day, as required by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).
In-vehicle lessons take place in and around Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, and Stayner, Ontario.
2. Completion Deadlines
The MTO requires every student to finish the entire 40-hour BDE program, including all in-vehicle lessons, within one (1) year of starting the classroom portion. This deadline is set by the Ministry and cannot be extended by the school for any reason.
To keep your file on track, RightSite requires that you finish the digital classroom portion within 6 months of your course start date and begin in-vehicle lessons no later than 8 months after your start date. If you move to another community before finishing, it remains your responsibility to complete all course components before the one-year deadline. Files that pass the MTO deadline expire and cannot be certified.
To earn certification you must pass the course requirements, including a minimum 70% mark on the classroom component. Upon certification, RightSite reports your completion electronically to the MTO; your driving record is updated automatically. BDE graduates may book their G2 road test after 8 months on a G1 (instead of 12) and may qualify for an insurance discount — confirm eligibility with your insurance provider. If you need paper proof of completion, you may order a Driver's Licence History from ServiceOntario for a fee (currently $12, set by ServiceOntario).
3. Fees and Payment
The course fee is $649 + HST. By enrolling, you authorize RightSite Driving School to charge the payment card you provide for the course fee and, where they apply under this agreement, for missed-lesson fees, late-cancellation fees, road-test booking charges you request, and any unpaid balance on your account. Your card details are stored securely by our payment processor for these purposes. A $50 fee applies to any payment returned by your bank.
4. Booking, Rescheduling and Missed Lessons
In-vehicle lessons are scheduled through our online booking calendar, which you receive access to at enrollment. To cancel or reschedule a lesson without charge, give us at least 12 hours' notice through the booking platform. Cancellations with less than 12 hours' notice incur a $25 fee. If you are more than 10 minutes late, absent, or unfit to drive (including impairment, missing corrective lenses, or an invalid licence), the lesson is forfeited and charged in full. Lessons the school cancels — for weather, vehicle, or instructor reasons — are never charged and will be rescheduled at no cost.
5. Withdrawal and Refund Policy
You may withdraw within 10 days of registration for a full refund, less a $50 + HST administration fee, provided you have not yet accessed the digital course content and your enrollment has not yet been reported to the MTO. After the digital content has been accessed or your enrollment has been reported to the MTO, fees are non-refundable and enrollment cannot be transferred to another person, another school, or a different course format. Completed in-vehicle lessons are non-refundable in all cases. Failing to finish the course within the deadlines in Section 2 does not create a right to a refund, credit, or extension. Gift cards and promotional credits have no cash value and are subject to HST. Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
6. Road Test Bookings
If you ask us to arrange a road test, you authorize RightSite Driving School to log in to DriveTest on your behalf to create, change, or cancel road test bookings. DriveTest fees are set by the province and are payable in addition to course fees.
7. Student Conduct and Safety
Students must follow instructor directions and the Ontario Highway Traffic Act during all in-vehicle lessons. Abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour toward staff — whether by a student, parent, or guardian — will result in removal from the program, and any refund will be determined under Section 5. Training vehicles are equipped with dual brakes and dashboard cameras (see Section 9).
8. Limitation of Liability
Driving instruction is delivered in real traffic and carries inherent risk. RightSite Driving School carries the vehicle licensing and insurance required of an MTO-approved school. Except where the law provides otherwise, the school is not responsible for losses caused by events outside its reasonable control, or for a student's own violations of law or instructor direction. Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under Ontario law, and nothing in it limits the legal rights of a student who is a minor.
9. Privacy Policy
What we collect and why. We collect the student's (and, for minors, the parent/guardian's) name, contact details, date of birth, driver's licence number, and payment information. We use this information to deliver the course, communicate with you, process payments, and meet our reporting obligations as an MTO-approved school.
Who we share it with. As required to run an approved BDE program, student records may be provided to the Ministry of Transportation, the Insurance Bureau of Canada, and the auditor retained by the Ministry. Payment data is handled by our payment processor. Financial records may be reviewed by the Canada Revenue Agency. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it or to establish or defend legal rights.
Dashboard cameras. Training vehicles record video during lessons for the safety of students and instructors. Footage is only reviewed after a collision or complaint, and may be provided to police, insurers, or a court where legally required.
Retention and your rights. Student records are retained for 3 years, after which they are securely destroyed. You may ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, or make a privacy complaint by contacting our Privacy Officer at rightsitedrivers@gmail.com or RightSite Driving School, 9 Carriage Lane, Wasaga Beach, ON L9Z 0L8. The minimum enrollment age is 16 (a valid Ontario G1 licence is required before in-vehicle training).
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version you sign at enrollment governs your enrollment; any later change that affects you materially will be communicated to you before it applies.
11. MTO Declaration
"I certify that the statements in this document are accurate and consent to the release of any information contained herein to the Ministry of Transportation, Insurance Bureau of Canada, and the auditing firm retained by the Ministry."
12. Acknowledgment
By signing, I confirm that I have read and understood this Enrollment Agreement, Course Policies, and Privacy Policy, and that I agree to them, including the payment authorization in Section 3 and the DriveTest booking authorization in Section 6. If the student is under 18, a parent or guardian must also sign.
