Parent and learner practice checklist
One drive. One useful goal. Use this sheet to plan practice between lessons and note what needs more work.
Before you leave
- Check that the learner and accompanying driver meet current Ontario licence requirements. For G1 practice, the accompanying driver needs a valid full G or higher and at least four years of qualifying experience. Valid, non-suspended G2 time counts.
- Choose a permitted route and conditions suited to the learner. G1 time-of-day and highway restrictions still apply. If unsure, check the official rules before driving.
- Check seatbelts, mirrors, visibility and the car's condition. Agree on one goal and give directions early. Leave alcohol out of the practice plan.
- If the learner feels overwhelmed or conditions become too difficult, stop somewhere safe and reassess.
